Caddick joins with Leeds College of Building in a new partnership venture

Caddick Construction & Civil Engineering and Leeds College of Building have agreed a joint “not for profit” partnership to assist in the training, learning and development of students, currently engaged interested in a future in the Construction Industry.
The arrangement will facilitate access to and development of a sustainable workforce for the future of the industry whilst supporting local communities and their environment. The key aims of the charter are to provide access to on and off the job training by way of work experience placements and/or work based learning projects, with Caddick committing to providing at least 4 work experience placements per year.
Andrew Murray, Managing Director at Caddick said: “I am delighted that we have forged this new partnership with Leeds College of Building, while others may use the economic downturn as an excuse to cut back on training and development, we recognise that investment is required in order to encourage more people into the industry, especially the younger generation, as they are vital to the success of the Construction Industry in years to come.”
Ian Billyard, Principal at Leeds College of Building commented: “It is extremely important that the College and companies in the Construction sector work together to ensure that the next generation of construction employees have the vital skills and knowledge that are required to succeed in the industry. The charter with Caddick will provide students with the opportunity to put into practice what they have learnt on their programme of study, and develop valuable work place skills.”

Caddick starts the New Year with over £24 million of awards across both Manchester and West Yorkshire offices, for commercial, retail, industrial and civil engineering contracts.
In Oldham a 42,000sq ft of office contract for G M P V F has just commenced on site, whilst in Sheffield a 47,000sq ft retail development for Derwent Holdings is scheduled to start on site early next month.
Further afield,Caddick is about to start on site in Newcastle-upon-Tyne with the £16 million Newburn Riverside Business Park.
Caddick Civil Engineering has also secured further residential contracts for roads & sewers and external works packages which includes a new site at Roundhay in Leeds for David Wilson Homes.
