Caddick Construction named Contractor of the Year at Alderley Park

Caddick Construction has been recognised as Contractor of the Year by Alderley Park construction team. The recognition came as part of Alderley Park’s annual awards ceremony which brings together the community of contractors on-site to celebrate the year’s achievements and recognise good health and safety standards and practices at the Park. Caddick walked away as Alderley Park’s ‘Contractor of the Year’ for its work delivering the £6.8million refurbishment and expansion of No.21 Mereside laboratories and workspace. No. 21 Mereside, boasts flagship four-storeys of ready-to-go laboratories alongside office space. It will also provide a reception area befitting this leading science facility.

Located less than 20 miles from Manchester city centre and within 20 minutes’ drive of Manchester Airport, Alderley Park brings together science, innovation and stylish living to create a place like no other. Due to the great work delivered by the team, Caddick was subsequently appointed to deliver a new multi-storey car park. The 2,227 space, seven-storey car park, which will include disabled spaces and electric vehicle charging points is currently underway.

Materials used on the MSCP will be of a high quality chosen to reflect the surrounding natural environment. Clad in vertical feature fins to mirror the cladding of the opposite building, elevations are further broken with a mix of façade treatments to provide visual interest, variation, and softness, alongside the adjacent woodland, including a mix of a living green wall and a climbing plant system. Landscaping work to improve the public realm, green space, and pedestrian environment will also be delivered.

Conor Vallelly, Avison Young, said: “Alderley Park is a critical component in the Cheshire Science Corridor and is a globally important asset for life sciences and technology. The Caddicks team is delivering a high-quality transformation of the facility and this new car park project will help to build on the continued success of the site to the Borough.”

Ian Threadgold, Regional Managing Director at Caddick Construction, said: “Working at Alderley Park has given the team the opportunity to create world-class laboratory space. We are delighted to continue at the site delivering supporting infrastructure to ensure the site continues to thrive.”
