Caddick Completes £8.1m Scheme To Extend Hopwood Hall College

Caddick Construction has completed the refurbishment and extension of Hopwood Hall College and University Centre’s Middleton Campus. With the site occupied by students throughout the build, this project required meticulous planning, to ensure the safety of the college and its students.

Commencing in early 2022, the 15,000 sq. ft build consisted of a refurbishment to the existing Technology building and Annex, with a further new build extension constructed to improve the facility used for the teaching of Engineering, Construction and Advanced Technologies. Alongside these works includes the extension to the existing refectory area, to increase covers and flexible presentation space.

To improve efficiency the Caddick Construction team worked closely with the college to make available new classroom areas through sectional completions and handovers, which released practical workshops and classrooms as they completed, with final hand over taking place in July 2023.

Caddick Construction is one of the many employers offering Hopwood Hall students work placements within their course. Throughout the build the contractor facilitated 12 student work placements, held talks with students and made hundreds of apprentice days available.

Paul Dodsworth, Managing Director at Caddick Construction Group, comments: “It’s a fantastic full circle moment that Caddick has delivered the impressive new facilities necessary to help more students enter into T-Level courses, in a range of different sectors but most notably our own industry of construction. Without these kinds of education settings, allowing for both practical and classroom-based teaching, many young people would miss out on the opportunity to realise their full potential.

“It’s been a pleasure working alongside Hopwood Hall College to bring these new and improved spaces to the local community and we look forward to seeing pupils enjoy the space.”

The Caddick Construction Group’s North West team includes more than 130 members of staff and operates from offices in Warrington and Kendal. The team is currently building a range of impressive construction projects in the region including 131 new affordable homes on Edward Street in Stockport, on behalf of The Guinness Partnership. Building on its commercial expertise, Caddick is currently also delivering a three storey office facility in Crewe, Arden Square, on behalf of Radius Payment Solutions.
