Caddick Construction Completes Life Science Labs

Caddick Construction is proud to have completed the £6.8 million CAT A refurbishment and expansion of No.21 Mereside at Alderley Park in March 2020, which is now successfully in operation as one of the UK’s three national Lighthouse Labs.

Ian Threadgold, Regional Managing Director at Caddick Construction, said: “Working at Alderley Park has given the team the opportunity to create exceptional laboratory space which will continue to attract some of the country’s best scientists to this well-known facility. The team is proud to have been part of a project which has delivered an exceptional resource in the fight against Covid-19."

Caddick Construction completed the original refurbishment earlier this year so that the flagship four-storey science facility provided laboratories, offices and a striking reception area for Alderley Park. The team comprehensively refurbished the interior as well as repairing the roof, façade and creating a new pedestrian access point.

Located less than 20 miles from Manchester city centre and within 20 minutes’ drive of Manchester Airport, Alderley Park is home to the UK’s largest single-site life science campus, alongside 150,000 sq ft of contemporary workspace for forward-thinking, tech focused companies within its ‘Glasshouse’ building.
