Caddick Construction Secures First Contract in Midlands Expansion

Caddick Construction Secures First Contract in Midlands Expansion

Caddick Construction Group has been appointed to build the next phase at Port Loop – a joint venture development being delivered by Urban Splash and Places for People in Birmingham. It is the first project for the business following its expansion into the Midlands.

The £14m contract will see Caddick Construction build Phase 2B of Port Loop, creating a development of 58 apartments as part of the 43-acre island community located alongside Birmingham Canal.

Caddick’s role as main contract closely follows the appointment of Ray O’Sullivan as Regional Director for the Midlands in July this year, which also saw the launch of new Caddick premises at Northspring at Temple Street.

Caddick’s presence in the Midlands forms part of the business’ controlled expansion strategy, which will include targeted growth in both the public and private sectors, including commercial, education, industrial, leisure, residential, care and retail projects.

Paul Dodsworth, Caddick Construction Group Managing Director, commented: “Ray joined our business in July and we have hit the ground running, building an established regional team and securing new premises to serve clients across the Midlands. Our appointment to the next phase of Port Loop is another stride forward in our plans to grow in the Midlands, and is a mark of the confidence the partners have in our new but extremely capable and expert team.”

Ray added: “Caddick Construction Group is a new presence in the Midlands, but between myself and the Midlands team we have extensive knowledge of the regional market, making us the perfect construction partner for Urban Splash and Places for People. Underpinning this exciting project will be our regional supply chain partners, with which we are already working to ensure an efficient mobilisation on site.”

Adam Willetts, is project director at Port Loop; speaking on behalf of the joint venture partners he said: “We are delighted to be moving forward with Caddick as our contracting partner to bring this next phase of Port Loop to life. Their expertise will help us deliver more much-needed design-led homes for Birmingham and give more people a chance to live in this growing new canalside neighbourhood.”
