Caddick Construction’s Jason Sims shortlisted for top construction award

Caddick Construction Project Manager Jason Sims has been shortlisted for a top national award in recognition of his contribution to the construction industry.

Jason, who has worked for Caddick Construction since leaving school, is only one of a handful of finalists to be chosen after a gruelling nomination and interview selection process for this year’s Chartered Institute of Building’s prestigious CIOB Awards. He has been shortlisted for the Construction Manager of the Year accolade, following his work on the award-winning £33.5m Hudson Quarter mixed-use development in the heart of York city centre.

Jason, 52, will be attending the CIOB Awards ceremony in London, hosted by TV and radio presenter, Anita Rani, on September 28th.

He said: “I can’t really believe that I’ve made it to the final, it’s been an amazing experience so far and Caddick has supported me every step of the way. The Hudson Quarter was a very special project to work on and has surpassed all expectations in terms of what it’s bringing to York city centre. It was a privilege to be part of that team and build something really special.”

The CIOB Awards, formerly the Construction Manager of the Year Awards, first started in 1978 and celebrate the individuals behind construction projects of all sizes including residential buildings as well as those used for education, business, healthcare and leisure. They have provided a springboard for many careers with winners having gone on to work on iconic landmarks like Canary Wharf and The Shard.

Caroline Gumble, CEO at CIOB, said: “We have received lots of high-quality entries for this year’s CIOB Awards, which showcase the very best leadership and talent in the built environment sector. Our congratulations go to all the finalists, and we hope they will join us at the awards ceremony in September, which is always such an inspirational event. It will be exciting to discover who the winners are.”

Ian Plowman, Operations Director, from Caddick Construction added: “We are incredibly proud of what Jason has achieved to get this far, not just on The Hudson Quarter, but every project he oversees. Jason is always one to shy away from the limelight but on this occasion the team are looking forward to supporting him on his big awards’ night.

Jason has led on many award-winning Caddick Construction projects during his career, including The Hut Leisure and Community Centre in Airedale, The Harley Gallery a purpose-built gallery space for The Portland Collection, in Worksop, Stonebow House,  redevelopment featuring 17 luxury apartments, with 4 penthouses, and 31,500 sq. ft of retail and leisure space and he is currently project managing the One City Park scheme in Bradford, on the site of the city’s former police headquarters.
