Caddick takes home two awards at this year’s Constructing Excellence Yorkshire and Humber awards

Caddick Construction has fought off steep competition from industry peers at tonight’s Constructing Excellence Yorkshire and Humber Awards, having taken home the accolades for both Residential Project of the Year and Building Project of the Year for its landmark Leeds development, Moda, New York Square, SOYO.

Sitting proudly on the South of York Road, SOYO is the newest multi-use neighbourhood in Leeds City Centre. Once complete, the £300 million, state-of-the-art complex will offer over 1m sq ft of space to live, work and enjoy. The development also includes some of the largest green space within the city and a hub for arts and culture alongside the highest quality residential builds and a public courtyard.

This scheme has seen Caddick Construction work in partnership with Moda Living to deliver two C-shaped built-to-rent apartment blocks, with two commercial units on the ground floor, both of which achieved BREEAM ‘Very Good’ upon completion.

Speaking on the award wins, Construction Group Managing Director, Paul Dodsworth commented: “This prestigious recognition from Constructing Excellence is a huge achievement for Caddick and the fantastic teams that brought SOYO together. This landmark development posed some unique challenges; we’ve worked in an extremely tight city centre footprint and we also faced new restrictions felt by Brexit and the Covid pandemic.

“I am very proud that Caddick was able to overcome these hurdles while still meeting our social value promises and in many areas exceeding the expectation with over 2,000 Leeds students engaged throughout the project. I’m so pleased that Caddick has been selected amongst this year’s winners and want to thank all those involved in bringing this standout scheme to completion.”

Run by the Centre for Knowledge Exchange, the Constructing Excellence Yorkshire and Humber Awards focus their attention on some of the most important issues in the construction industry. It sets out to recognise the very best companies, collaborations and projects that share best practice and inspire others to adopt new and better ways of working that deliver outstanding results.
